Tips
> This project is one of those activities which seems complex but is actually just about using up all the cute bits and bobs of materials you’ve collected over the year. The thing that connects them together is working in a single colour way – I chose pink!.
Step 1:
To make tree branches
Paint the branches white.
Step 2:
Paint the branches in three gradients of pink.
Step 1:
To make the felt garland
Cut 2.5cm triangles from the off-cuts of orange, pink and pale pink felt.
Step 2:
Pin triangles into pink binding and stitch down flat.
Step 3:
Tie the felt garland to the middle branch.
Step 1:
To make the paper stars
Convert this star shape PNG file to FCM file by uploading it into ScanNCut Canvas program using the Image Tracing Icon and resaving as a FCM file and cut out 3 x 8cm stars from patterned paper using ScanNCut. Alternatively Star shape # BA-A078 Built-in CM550DX Design can be used.
Step 2:
Stitch stars together using Brother NS55 Sewing Machine.
Step 3:
Glue to top branch using hot glue gun.
Step 1:
To make the pom-pom
Follow this video here. Use a cup to cut two circles out of spare cardboard (I used the lid of an old pizza box). Cut a small keyhole shape out of both circles.
Step 2:
Take a 12 cm strange of wool and loop it around the circle.
Step 3:
Sandwich the strand between the two boards.
Step 4:
Taking a new strand of wool into the centre of the keyhole, wrap repeatedly it around both bits of cardboard until you completely and evenly cover the brown area.
Step 5:
Take a pair of scissors and put the blade in the gap between the two bits of cardboard. Cut around the circumference of the circles and through all the loops of the pompom. Use the 12cm strand to tie the pom-pom and eventually become the thread the pompom hangs off.
Step 1:
To make the felted wool balls
Follow this video here. Use soapy water by the sink to roll the felted wool into 2cm balls.
Step 1:
To connect the branches
Tie the branches together using around 15cm of thick wool crafting yarn.
Step 2:
Thread the felt balls onto a strand of pink yarn. Then use the same strand to tie the lamas to the bottom branch
Step 3:
Glue to top branch using hot glue gun.
Congratulations your Christmas Tree Hanging is complete!
